Tejas Class
Online Level 1 Iyengar Yoga | Mondays & Fridays 7:00 AM
Tejas is often translated as inner fire, radiance, or spiritual brilliance. To me, Tejas is the flame that doesn’t burn out. It is the quiet, steady commitment to return to practice—even on the mornings when motivation is low.
In the Yoga Sutras, Patañjali teaches that transformation comes through abhyāsa—a steady, uninterrupted practice carried on over a long period of time with dedication. This is the essence of Tejas: not intensity for a week, but a flame that continues to glow day after day, year after year.
This class is designed for students who wish to deepen their Iyengar Yoga practice through regular, disciplined study. Meeting twice each week cultivates strength, stability, clarity, and confidence while refining observation and self-awareness. Through this consistent practice, we experience pariṇāma—the profound transformation that unfolds over time.
Prerequisites
Tejas is a Level 1 Iyengar Yoga class intended for students with prior Iyengar Yoga experience. Students should be comfortable with:
Śīrṣāsana (Headstand) preparation
Sarvāṅgāsana (Shoulder Stand)
Students should also be familiar with the use of Iyengar Yoga props and foundational alignment principles.
Required Equipment
To participate fully and safely, students should have access to the following:
1 clear wall space
1 yoga bolster
4 yoga blankets
2 yoga blocks
2 yoga straps
1 Iyengar yoga chair
These props are an essential part of the Iyengar method and allow us to explore the poses with greater precision, safety, and understanding.
Don’t have all the required props yet? Please reach out before registering. We’d be happy to help you build your home practice space and guide you toward the equipment you’ll need for a successful practice.
If you’re ready to commit to a steady practice that keeps the flame of yoga alive, I invite you to join us every Monday and Friday morning.
Come home to yourself through the practice of yoga.
Come to your mat. Tend the flame. Let your practice illuminate the day ahead.
